Government announced that the deadline of linking PAN with Aadhaar is March 31, 2021. Failing which the PAN card will become inoperative from April 1, 2021. You will not be able to use your PAN to conduct the financial transactions wherever quoting of PAN is mandatory such as the opening of a bank account etc.
Further, the government is also planning to impose a fine of ₹ 10,000 in case of not meeting the deadline.
The following are the steps to link PAN with Aadhar:
Step 1. Visit the Income Tax E-Filing Website https://www.incometaxindiaefiling.gov.in/home .
Step 2. Click on the sub-option 'Link Aadhaar' below the 'Quick Links'.
Step 3. Enter your PAN, Aadhaar Number and Name as per Aadhaar.
Step 4. If your Birth Year is only mentioned on your Aadhaar, then you have to select '.
Step 5. Enter the captcha code and click on Link Aadhaar option.
Step 6. A pop-up message will appear that 'Your Aadhaar will be successfully linked with your PAN'.
